Let us Introduce You to Mosalingua

MosaLingua is another great language learning app that has been built based on the spaced repetition method of learning. There are two versions of the MosaLingua products, the mobile language apps (free and premium) and MosaLingua Web which has lots of extras, along with a yearly subscription. Even before signing up, you can see that they value people wanting to use their products. They are confident enough to offer lifetime access to their free mobile app as they know it will engage people. Mosalingua Web also comes with a free trial so you can test that out too.

The guys behind MosaLingua also agree with the 80/20 principle. They believe that if you know 20% of the words of a language then you will be 80% proficient in conversing in that language. Keep reading on to find out what else MosaLingua has to offer.

Which Languages to Learn?

As you may know by now, we like to list early in our reviews the main languages that are on offer at each of the language tools that we test. Below you can view which languages are most popular on the MosaLingua platforms. First, we will start with their free mobile applications:

  • English
  • Spanish
  • Italian
  • Brazilian Portuguese
  • German
  • French
  • Russian
  • TOEIC English
  • TOEFL English

Obviously, when you have the premium versions of these apps you have a much wider variety of teaching material. The premium apps cost £4.99 and that grants you lifetime access! You can test the free app, then if you decide to pay the pittance for the premium version, all of your current stats will be synced when you log in to your new MosaLingua premium app. The same languages are all available with the addition of two new languages, which are:

  • Business English
  • Business Spanish

For Mosalingua Web they have exactly the same as the premium apps and you will still be able to enjoy Business English and Spanish.

MosaLingua also allows other nationalities to learn in their mother tongue, not just English speakers. You can experience the interface in French, Spanish, German, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese, the product really is global!

How Much do the Mosalingua Products Cost?

There you have it, the 3 main products that MosaLingua offers, now let’s take a look at what the price of each of them all are.

As seen above the apps come in a free or premium version. There are 9 available free language apps to download, feel free to test them today. If you enjoy using these apps then you can start to check out what extras you’ll get from the premium versions.

Obviously, with MosaLingua premium apps there are another 2 languages available to download and you will have to pay for the premium app extras. For a small fee of just £4.99, you will gain lifetime access to all learning materials for your chosen language. Sometimes MosaLingua will try to entice you to buy language bundles that can include, 2 and up to 7 different premium apps!

Mosalingua App

MosaLingua Web is slightly different from their language app products, even though they still focus on the Mosalingua learning method. In addition, you will receive access to the MosaDiscovery and MosaLibrary sections. The price of the course costs £59.90 for a yearly subscription and that includes all languages, amazing!

Although they have named it MosaLingua Web you can use the language platform on any device that is connected to the internet, but on mobile or tablet, it is only available on Google Chrome.

The Teaching Method

When you start to use any MosaLingua product for the first time you will be asked a few questions.

  • Why you want to learn the language (travel, work/business, exams etc)
  • How much time can you dedicate each day to learning – 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes
  • Self-assess your level out of 1-12. (Each level contains 100+ flashcards to learn, even reaching 500+ on some levels, so you definitely won’t be stuck for learning material)

We will now cover the teaching methods used throughout all of the MosaLingua products. As we have already mentioned they have put their main teaching focus on the spaced repetition system. They do this by incorporating the use of flashcards together with the spaced repetition method. You will see the ‘learn’ tab in your app, which will have preset phrases to learn. You can add and take away to this list. If you are beginner it is best to start with 5 at a time, but if you feel more confident then why not try 10, 15 or more.

Listen and Repeat

After choosing the phrases you will then start the MosaLingua app lessons. The first is listening to the spoken phrases and repeating them whilst recording yourself. You only hear the phrase and can’t see it written until you have attempted yourself and turned over the flashcard. Then it is the time to review your own recording in comparison with the teachers. Following this, you will be presented with an ‘Again’ or ‘Repeat’ button, if you believe you have pronounced the word or phrase correctly go ahead and move on to the next flashcard. If not, go back and try again. This time you would have seen the word written down and hopefully, that will help. This self-evaluation makes it different to the speech recognition that Babbel uses. To be honest, I prefer this way from MosaLingua as you can actually playback your own recording (even if I don’t like my own voice) to see how you sounded.

Flashcards will now appear featuring images with the phrase in your mother tongue, you are supposed to say the foreign version out loud before revealing the correct translation. If you got it right mark it as correct, if not it will still be included in this section until you have grasped it!

Next stage of the MosaLingua learning process is getting used to spelling the words yourself. You are already given all the letters you just have to put them in the correct order. Some of the shorter phrases are obviously quite easy, but once you start with harder words and phrases you will find this more challenging. All in all, this is a good method for language learners at different levels.

Self Assessment

The final step is to go through all of the words/phrases that you have just learned and give yourself an honest review. Flipping the flashcards to see if you are right and then choosing ‘incorrect’ or ‘correct’. Obviously, you are only cheating yourself if you mark it right when you aren’t. You will also see this feature when you are reviewing the flashcards that you have already learned. Don’t be annoyed that you are seeing it a lot. This is helping your memory to store the vocabulary at a time when you need a recap.

To Summarise

So, there we have it, our full Mosalingua review. As you might have been able to tell we love the Mosalingua app here at It has a great structure to the language learning process, you can tell that the team behind the product really care about the quality.
